Our local New Haven community bike shop, The Devil's Gear run by Matt Feiner, is going through some financial struggles. They have created a fundraising campaign that you can contribute to.

Matt and the folks at The Devil's Gear helped to awaken the biking community in New Haven. They have been continually giving of their talents, space, and time.

@YaleLux in Review

Lux at Yale.

You know, the most impressive feature about Lux at Yale at the Beinecke Library in Hewitt Quadrangle (Wall St. and High St. approximately) is just how dialed in the displays actually are quantized to the surface.

Many of the videos were highly aligned with the actual shape of the library. It is quite possibly one of the best outdoor art displays in New Haven to date, and we at Nhv.Org certainly hope that there will be future occasions in which this happens again.

You have one more night to enjoy it. Tonight's the last night, for this year; hopefully it will happen again in years to come. For now, Sunday's your last chance to enjoy this excellent opportunity.

NHV TTP Discusses Storm Preparedness

Douglas Hausladen, Director of Transportation, Traffic and Parking hosted a live chat event.

"We've bought 8 new trucks so that our 21 out of 22 snow routes have heavy machinery on their routes. What we did last year was we had taken our small trucks and put them on the 'big truck' routes in order to accomplish that. So what we have this year is we have 21 out of 22 snow routes that are filled by DPW heavy machinery equipment. The one remaining snow route is going to be covered by a contractor. In addition to that, we've stepped up our communications of course, you're actually witnessing part of that communication.

"Just Friday night, when this storm was supposed to be light rain on Tuesday, I was talking with the head of our evening supervisors, and he said that he was receiving a lot of positive feedback on Grand Avenue, and Whalley Avenue from our businesses. Tonight, the early indication is that Whalley Avenue is clear of cars and we are doubling our efforts in our PA system in our notifications to make sure that Grand Ave and Ferry St. and other snow routes know that we're coming."

Demolition on Upper State Continues

If you're like me, then you think of construction as a modern mechanical version of watching dinosaurs roam the earth. Productive, mechanical dinosaurs with pummeling capabilities.

The warehouse space which has not been in use for quite some time is getting removed from the earth to make way for a vast assortment of new residences in the Upper State Street section of East Rock. This is exciting because, you never know; they might actually someday fix that bridge across the Mill River on State Street too someday and that entire area could function like an actual neighborhood again. Here's some classic footage from today in 1080p.

Trolley Museum Holiday Schedule

If you would like to find yourself in Branford where the sea meets the land, and you would be interested in seeing the birds and the hawks and the ospreys and herons, this is the place for you. Light Rail is making a comeback at the Shoreline Trolley Museum, hands-down the "the oldest continuously running suburban trolley line in the USA."

Visit their website at ShorelineTrolley.Org and you'll notice that today, there's a special holiday schedule going on. The deal is that Nov. 28-29-30 from 10:30am-7:00pm, the trolleys will be running continuously and you should definitely check out this experience for yourself.

Epic! Beast Mode in #Nhv: Cycling Special

Starts out with aerial footage of New Haven, CT. Goes towards Beast Mode as soon as rider takes the handlebars. A must-see.

Many lawyers would say this is just a lawsuit ready to happen. And they might be right. But the fact is, it's happening and there's really no way of stopping it. People might ride bicycles like maniacs all day long, flying down sidewalks, cruising backwards on one-way streets. This is much better.

If you caught our article from the other day, you'd have been there for this excellent pizza party sponsored by iSliceNhv, the acclaimed pizza place in town. The family suggested donation was $30 and the party was basically open to the public.

Stereomedia makes films about you.

The reason for the fundraiser was because Dominic Paglia agreed to an operation where he gave 55% percent of his liver to his uncle, Pete. The surgery was performed May 20th 2014 at PennMedicine, and according to the family went remarkably smooth (see video).

How Was The Show Last Night?

There was a jam-packed crowd on the New Haven Green last night for the 90's-acclaimed Rap group Salt N Pepa, who performed such hits for the crowd as "Push It," "Whadda Man" of course, "Shoop." Watch the video to see what it was like. Some interviews of the crowd at the end also highlight the overall atmosphere of the show.

The NHVMusic video team obtained some crowd footage, and tried to get the police officers to dance (but they wouldn't, although one did laugh with us). What was the best thing about it? Really, the diversity of people enjoying the music. People of all ages. Folks from all kinds of backgrounds. They asked a bunch of people why they came, and what they enjoyed about it. Watch the videos to hear what they had to say.

The 2:26 video at the top features the ambient music of DJ Shadow from 1994. The other shorter Instagram video was produced this morning in order to promote the upcoming 2:26 video which was released this evening.

Smilow Cancer Center - Closer To Free

The concert was presented by Smilow Cancer Hospital in New Haven, CT. Logistical support was provided by the city in terms of law enforcement presence and Parks Department support. The night happened completely without incident, other than the incidence of everyone having an amazingly good time. Proving, once again, that #Nhv just might be the greatest small city in America.

Here's a neat new video from SiteProjects, responsible for some of New Haven's must interesting public art available. It includes some compiled footage from artwork produced over the years.





SiteProjects has created such works as The Square with Four Circles, a landmark art piece in New Haven since it was painted in 2010. Siteprojects was also responsible for launching last year's Night Rainbow.







SiteProjects has recently featured a work called Whispering Galleries at the New Haven Free Public Library.
