Intoxicated Man Subdued Without Incident in New Haven

In the wake of what we see among many police departments across the country, citizens are getting shot dead by police. Whether it's Freddy in Baltimore, or that guy in Charleston selling guns from the trunk of his car, people are getting killed, and then others with cellphones are recording it. The results are not pretty, and neither is this. But let's put it in context.

Without incident, this man (who by anyone's estimation effectively charged the officer) was handled and did not seriously injure himself (though that's questionable) nor others. This serves as a stark reminder that our urban environment is still full of the unexpected, and life certainly isn't perfect here in the greatest city in America. At least we have officers who don't unleash lethal force upon citizens who are not necessarily innocent in their demeanor but not an imminent threat, either.

Instagram Releases "HyperLapse" - #Nhv Examples on Construction Sites

Just yesterday, Instagram released a new app called "Hyperlapse" which effectively allows very patient people to produce short time lapse videos using their smartphones. It's pretty cool, as you can see.

The app currently is free, just as Instagram itself is also free. The platform surged 35% in 2013 and we don't really have the full statistics for the reach this year, but last year the number of users on Instagram worldwide was 150,000,000 which is substantial.

Cool app to download.

As a sharing platform, it's unique in that it only displays images at the low resolution of 640 x 640 px resolution, or video at 15 seconds in length in total. With the new Hyperlapse application, you can turn a 1:30 video into a :15 second video simply by using the darned app.

We went around today to a couple construction sites throughout #Nhv and this is just a sample of what we came up with. Hope you'll enjoy. To download the app for iPhone from the Apple App Store, click here.

Chairs to You, Graduates.

See Time Lapse Video Below
Yale Instagram released this fun timelapse video where the chairs for graduation are laid out across Old Campus for ceremony. It's fun to watch, but another thing to see in real life what the process looks and feels like. The energy of the courtyard is fantastic, and it's even more exciting when it's entirely filled with people.

Yale Instagram is only 13 posts shy of its one thousandth image or video. It currently has over 15,000 followers and grows at an average of about 1000 per month. It's one of the top Ivy League social media sources available, continuing to share current events and inspirational images to current and former students around the globe, along with anybody else interested.

Requiem for a Coffee Shop.

This is from the new coffee shop on East St. and State (by the intersection of Mechanic, in what's presently known as Pantryland/Nomansland); different from Parts Unknown.

They're open today until 3pm and they open at 7am.  It's a nice, clean coffee shop waiting for you to sit and have a treat.  Not only is it quiet, they have pretty decent wifi.  There isn't an overabundance of car parking outside, but it's decent.  There are places you can lock your bicycle, as well.  Stop by there sometime.
