Creative Holiday Gifts at The Haven Collective

If you really want to get your friends and loved ones something entirely original and creative, give some thought to visiting the Haven Collective at 938 State Street in the Upper State neighborhood of New Haven.

The collection there is mainly vintage, but there are also a whole lot of customized screen printed featured work in the front room, like this teeshirt collection from Jimi Patterson, who has received praise for his Joy Division album cover tee shirt idea from members as astute and observant as a certain managing director of a certain symphony orchestra.

Check out the whole collection. Here's a map in case you get lost.

New Neighborhood, New Storefront

An incubator for small creative entrepreneurs and artisans is coming to the heart of New Haven’s East Rock neighborhood.
Located at 938 State Street, The Haven Collective will feature expertly curated vintage clothing, shoes and accessories from Vintanthromodern Vintage and American handmade goods from lifestyle brand (23rd/1st). Meanwhile, monthly pop-up shops will showcase products from small businesses and makers across the state of Connecticut.  Jewelry maker Kate Stephen will be featured as the Collective's first rotating pop-up shop. The Haven Collective will also host creative social events and a modern craft studio in its unique space.

The grand opening celebration on October 24, from 6-10pm, will include giveaways – a membership to the Haven Collective, a free class, and a gift certificate for $50 to one of the Haven Collective's vendors, as well as food, drink, mingling and crafting!

Vintanthromodern Seeks to Share Space

Trolley Square is one of New Haven's upcoming commercial spaces. One of its more successful occupants, a vintage thrift store known as Vintanthromodern, operated by Melissa Gonzales, is ready to share some of her space.

"We are still looking for 1-2 people to share our space at Trolley Square in New Haven. Looking for inexpensive creative studio space, or retail exposure for your handmade, vintage or design business? Space will be available May 1st. Please inbox us for details!"

If you have any interest in sharing space with a vintage thrift shop, pay the place a visit! If you know Melissa already, you can always email her expressing interest in this great opportunity.

In particular, if you live in New Haven and have an interest in making your own clothes and selling them, this is your chance to mix styles with other handmade industries and quirky Connecticut ingenuity.
