Women's Rallies and Public Meetings Saturday

11am at Wooster Park: Rally "#YesAllWomen"
On Saturday June 7, join a nationwide effort to move the discussion surrounding #YesAllWomen from the Internet to our communities. It's a discussion that can't be confined to 140 characters, and one that has space for everyone's story.

Bring your story to Wooster Square on June 7th as we talk about how to make home, work, and play safer for women in Connecticut.

There's a Facebook Group for this, by the way.

1pm at Wilson Library: Public Meeting
To continue the topic today, later at 1pm there is another event at the Wilson Branch Library in the Hill Section at 303 Washington Avenue. It's free and there will be refreshments. It's about the Struggle for LGBT Liberation (Stonewall Was A Riot). The flyer reads, "Victories in every state have not been the result of benevolent judges or legislatures, but the product of massive peoples' movements for equality. How can we keep building these necessary movements?"

And it will also contain a talk about the roots of LGBTQ Oppression. How it connects to other forms of oppresion like racism and sexism. And how movements unite to fight capitalism, the root facuse of oppression? This is hosted by the Party for Socialism and Liberation. You can find more information on their site at LiberationNews.Org

Pizza Trick: Avert the Wooster St. Lines

A young woman enjoys pizza with her dad, visiting
Surely, by now you've realized that the additional price you pay, beyond the cost of the pizza, is the time you wait in line on Wooster Street.  While many a great interaction and conversation are to be had while awaiting a table at these fine institutions, there is an alternative measure which may not be considered by all.

Here's the trick for how to not wait in line at Pepe's or Sally's, still enjoy great Wooster Square pizza and have the additional facet of outdoor seating, while not having to wait in line. It might sound like a no-brainer, and it won't save you money on your taxes, but it might save you a little bit of time.
  1. Order by phone to either location:  Sally's number is (203) 624-5271.
The line to order for pick-up at Pepe's on Wooster Street is (203) 865-7602.
  2. Go and pick up the pizza at the time when they say it will be ready.  At certain times of the day, that could mean waiting for an hour, so expect some delay, depending on when you're eating.
  3. Walk 1200ft from Sally's or 1000ft from Pepe's to Wooster Square Park.  It's not that far.  In fact, it's literally around the corner.   Then find a decent bench, sit and eat!  Viola!  Pizza in the park.

Dog Park Resurfaces

This slideshow arrives via +Douglas Hausladen.  These are pics of the resurfacing of the Wooster Square Dog Park.  URI volunteers helped make it look fresh again.  Wondering also what became of the homeless encampment?  They probably relocated to a large group behind the ice skating rink.
