The legendary BookTrader at 1131 Chapel Street has a very active new Instagram page. One of the best features of it is that you get to know what soup is available that day. This is a great use of technology as I am always wondering what Jenn's soup that day will be. Now the guesswork is over, because of their high quality colorful photos which get posted on a regular basis.
Thanks Social Media!

The corner of Elm and Broadway has undergone many changes over the years. It was David's Cookies, when I was a kid. Then it became Au Bon Pain for the longest time. ABP is no more, however Maison Mathis has provided the same spacious atmosphere in its location across the street.
The announcement is tomorrow at 1:30pm.

Commuter trains are still statistically safer than highways, and also more fuel efficient: a rail car uses 2812 BTU per passenger mile, whereas a passenger vehicle will use 3538 BTU's (source: US Dept of Energy). Recently, I discovered the public Instagram account of Emily, who rides the Harlem Line, and takes great pictures along the way. (The Harlem Line is east of the Hudson Line [map], which recently experienced the accident). I asked some questions about her experience using Metro North, and here's what she said.

It was really hard to choose because they were all so awesome, but this was decided purely based on which preview looked the most colorful.
@CTGirlAboutTown receives a $50 Gift Certificate to Miyas. This was a tough decision because we don't want to encourage people to take pictures while driving, although it's possible she was standing in the street or in the passenger seat.
@townofnewhaven And for the record, I was NOT driving. 😛

Instagram Geotagging on Nhv
Geography is important, and the world is based on places. People have homes, and 95% of homes are stationary. While people have a tendency to move, geographical places remain fixed in their position, and that's the importance of the hashtag #Nhv.
The growing list of people who use it can be found on both Instagram and Twitter. Their ranks are numerous! This map shows you people who have identified their photographs as "New Haven" via this three-letter code, based on the Amtrak station identification for New Haven, Connecticut.
The goal of this site? Hopefully to gather a better insight for what is really going on around here! As well, to solidify the context of our geographic region and to make access to Nhv.Org publicly available.
To post your pictures to this website, just tag it with #Nhv and it'll appear right here. Or there. Actually it will show up all over the place, on both the home and mobile versions of the site.
View the mobile version of the site to gather some insight into what is going on at the present moment, through its three major features:
1. Calendar of Events
2. Twitter #Nhv Feed
3. Instagram #Nhv Feed
4. Articles, such as this one.
You're encouraged to read the articles at a home computer or a desktop for the optimal experience. Embedded maps don't always appear to work properly on mobile cellphones, even if you have the one that is big enough for Shaquille O'Neal!
#Nhv is Latitude: 41°18 ′36″N Longitude: 72°55′25″W.
