ABC of Architects Video

Local architecture firm Pelli Clarke Pelli was mentioned  (at 1:01) in a Vimeo Staff Pick entitled "The ABC of Architects."  It's a 1:38 long video containing examples of some of the  most important architects, with their best known building.  

Other architectural notables in this great animated video are Le Corbusier, Gehry.. 

Done in a 60'st style motif, complete with the flickers of film, the video contains the shape of each architect's best known video, along with the first letter of their last name in a circle on the left, and a circle on the right containing a flag indicating their nationality.

New Haven is the kind of place where you never know what's going on in the office upstairs from your local Starbucks.  Cesar Pelli is a local architect who works downtown at his firm, Pelli Clarke Pelli (their website is amazing).  His team designed such things as the Petronas Twin Towers (wiki) which, from 1998-2004, were the tallest buildings in the world, and more recently Iberdrola Tower in Spain.  He's currently 86 and still works hard.

Other great New Haven architects include Paul Rudolph and Fred Clarke, of course.  Who else can you name?  Comments have included Dave Coon, Ben Hosen, Jim Martin, even Kyle Skar belongs on the list.

Ian Applegate commented:  "There's also Eric Epstein, who converts unused Walmarts down south into Junior Colleges."  He remarked also that Eric was the designer of a great book on trees, which was strategically (and appropriately) named "Trees," in that case.  Sometimes architects write books!
