Fiddling Techniques with Grammy Award-Winning Fiddler Stacy Phillips

Neighborhood Music School (NMS) invites the public to attend a Fiddling Techniques Workshop with Stacy Phillips on Sun., Oct. 25, 1 - 2:30 p.m. in the NMS Recital Hall at 100 Audubon St., in New Haven. Phillips, a Grammy award-winning fiddler and dobro player, will teach fiddle tunes and demonstrate what American fiddling is all about. His workshop will be aimed at violinists who have at least 2 yrs. playing experience, but anyone who wishes to be introduced to fiddling will benefit. The fee is $15. Following the workshop, Stacy Phillips and His Bluegrass Characters will perform a free concert from 3 – 4 p.m.  The band features Phil Zimmerman (mandolin), Stacy Phillips (fiddle and dobro), Pete Kelly (bass), Red Kaufman (banjo and former NMS student), and Andy Bromage (guitar).
Stacy Phillips is an internationally acclaimed resonator guitarist and violin player. He has performed with top acoustic musicians all over the world and has three solo albums. Phillips is the featured artist on the Grammy award-winning album “The Great Dobro Sessions.” Stacy is the author of over 25 books and DVDs on various aspects of his chosen instruments.
