Hendrickson-Smith, a
saxophonist and flutist, is known for his remarkable tone, soulful approach and
blues-driven melodies. He is one of the most sought-after musicians in New York
City and currently plays with The Roots on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy
Fallon, as well as with the Loston Harris Trio at the Carlyle Hotel. He has
released ten jazz albums as a leader, with his most recent, Live at Smalls, garnering critical acclaim from The New York Times.

worldwide through numerous live appearances and recordings with an incredibly
diverse array of celebrated artists, including Dr. Lonnie Smith, Sharon Jones

The Strand
Band is comprised of Hendrickson-Smith, as well as Clark Gayton on trombone,
Eric Finland on Hammond Organ, Al Street on guitar and Erick Kalb on the drums.
“We have a
residency at The Strand Smokehouse in Astoria every Sunday, hence the name,”
says Hendrickson-Smith.
