Spencer Luckey Builds Playgrounds

There's a designer in town who builds giant playgrounds.

Recently, the Luckey Climber structure at Liberty Science Center was featured on the official Guggenheim Instagram account, as part of a "museum swap":

Continuing on our journey through @LibertyScienceCenter, we explored the Infinity Climber—a jungle gym that hangs 35 feet above the floor, designed by noted artist and architect Spencer E. Luckey (@luckeyclimbers) "for children to experience the joy of climbing." The structure was conceived as an expression of relativism, providing the climber with endless routes and infinite views—it reminded us of the Guggenheim's spiral rotunda, which invites visitors to visualize the art from different angles and perspectives. The playgrounds are fabricated and designed here in New Haven's Fair Haven neighborhood, nearby the Bigelow factory complex which is slated for partial demolition (read "River St. Blues"). Manufacturing has historically been a major part of the Fair Haven waterfront.
