Featuring Artist Nancy Eisenfeld
Artist Nancy
Eisenfeld explores Circumstances Beyond Control in this City Gallery exhibition, on view from
April 4 - April 28. The show features Eisenfeld’s new work in sculpture,
ink on film and collage.
In this timely collection of work, Eisenfeld addresses
nature’s forces, and the ever-present cycles of growth, decay, and the resurgence of life. “I believe
in climate change. There is scientific evidence here, now. We read about it in
the paper all the time: firestorms, dissolving polar ice sheets and more
frequent tornados. This evidence of destruction manifests itself as an urgent
passion in my work.”
Eisenfeld often works with found materials; sloughing
tree bark, decaying wood, invasive vines in nature, rusted wire, weathered
plywood and commercial metal parts from the discard of the streets. They become
the impetus for her drawings and sculptures, which are reconstructed and
transformed though a process of intuition, change, and experimentation.
The exhibit is free and open to the public. City
Gallery is located at 994 State Street, New Haven, CT 06511. Gallery hours are
Friday - Sunday, 12 noon - 4pm. For further information please contact City
