What’s the FORECAST? Find out as artist
Nancy Eisenfeld presents a collection of paintings, collage and sculptures that
express the violence and unpredictability of nature’s forces. This dynamic show
will be on view at City Gallery from Thursday, May 3 through Sunday, May 27,
with an Opening Reception on Saturday, May 5 from 2-5pm, and an Artist Talk on
Sunday, May 20 at 2pm.
“Nature’s forces are benevolent and
destructive, necessary for our existence and out of human control. The cycles
of growth and decay and resurgence of life again constantly affect us,”
explains Eisenfeld. The impetus for her work are found materials—sloughing tree
bark, decaying wood, invasive vines in nature, rusted wire, weathered plywood
and commercial metal parts from the discard of the streets— which she
reconstructs and transforms in her drawings and sculptures.
The FORECAST show and events are free and open to the public. Refreshments
will be served. City Gallery is located at 994 State Street, New Haven, CT
06511. Gallery hours are Thursday - Sunday, 12 noon - 4pm. For further
