AmeriCorps Alums CT Hosts Sweater Party, Donation Drive

Want to attend a party with good intentions? Then come on down to Luck and Levity this Saturday, January 12th from 6p-9p. AmeriCorps Alums CT is hosting a "Crazy Sweater Party" with the added component of a Donation Drive for homeless Veterans.

AmeriCorps Alums CT are a group of Alumni from national community service programs. All have served their communities for a minimum of 10 months throughout the United States, with a significant majority serving in Connecticut. The goal of AmeriCorps Alums CT is threefold- Continued community service and engagement in our communities- Advocacy on behalf of community service programs and community development & Professional networking & Social events. We have over 250 registered members, of those, we have about 15-20 people who are actively involved in projects, and we are looking for more! Our events are open to all Service Alumni and "Friends Of." We really just want to support our communities and each other.

On to the Donation Drive. Through our service, we have a connection with Veterans who were formerly homeless, and are being newly housed. On MLK day, January 21st, we will be hosting a service event to create up to 75 "Welcome Baskets" for newly housed Veterans. These baskets will contain much needed household items, all of which will be donated. We need as many donations as possible!

Here is a list of items we need. which was created in collaboration with the Veterans.
In exchange, we will provide some light refreshments, and good company.

Anyway, we just wanted to share what's up in the world with some community service in the New Haven area. In addition, AmeriCorps Alums CT is partnering with a bunch of service projects for MLK day too, so please feel free to join. We would love to have you!

Much love and peace-
Tina and AmeriCorps Alums CT
