Miniature Harkness Tower (Video)
Topics:
Harkness
The other day, the crew was wheeling a miniature Harkness Tower into the Architecture School. I had to chase them in to verify if what I saw was correct; and indeed, it was a miniature Harkness Tower. If that's not incredible. At the end, watch how to play this monster. Why is this so interesting?
The Harkness Carillon is a musical instrument in the shape of a building. A device which looks like a piano. It's massive, and the keys to the playing device are pretty large as well. They're the size of foot pedals and to play, you must hit them with your fists. Some people can play very fast.
The keys go to cords which go directly to the bells. That's what you're hearing. A massive keyboard that controls a set of bells. Obviously this video could be done better but considering that this is nothing I particularly planned, I hope you'll excuse the amateur quality.
