Google offered a crisis map which indicated the path of the storm, as well as shelter capacity and information. If you were looking for a place to stay, that would have been a good place to find that information.

Precursory Warnings
Here is a very good satellite image which displays the massive size of this storm. It was very big.
The storm is big, and contains a few elements of specific timing which may result in serious damage. For one, it's a full moon and at high tide, this could spell some serious additional "worst-case scenario" problems for the coastline, including those around #NHV and the Long Island Sound. The ground is at moderate range of saturation but the storm is anticipated to hit a cold front, which might actually accelerate wind speeds and cause further damage. Basically, we would be getting a cold rain storm, but we're also getting a hurricane.
SeeClickFix has this message about preparing your city streets for big storms in the Autumn months, particularly the importance of clearing out storm drains so that they work properly and do not flood streets. Flooding in urban areas forces situations where entire streets might require repaving.

It's advised that you use SeeClickFix after the storm to report any issues in your area, as City Hall and Public Works directly monitors the posts that are presented to them via that particular platform.
