Tree Puddles

After the rain today, some of the squares without trees had puddles.

Could it be, that because there is no tree in that square, that the water is not being absorbed by something?

Other squares reinforce this idea.

Elsewhere, a soggy hardcopy of Hawking's "A Brief History of Time" sits on a lawn somewhere.
