Dumpster Diving Contest Results

A handful of people chose to hunt down treasures in the dumpsters of Yale after the senior moveout day.  It was rainy at first, but the weather turned permissive later in the day.  Jeff found a group of travelling musicians who were knee deep in beer cans and other items such as discarded and unused notebooks, toothbrushes, and many other items.  One man found a blackberry, and boasted about finding several of them in the past.

At one point in the video, Jeff admonishes the student who disposed of all of his or her prescription medications improperly.  Many know that unused prescription drugs should be flushed down the toilet to ensure that it doesn't fall into the wrong hands.  Thankfully, Jeff is not "the wrong hands" and he makes note of this in a PSA-style mention during the video.  Together, we can learn from these lessons and build a healthier, less wasteful society.
The official winner for the contest, however, was  a man who found a blackberry cellphone.  Again, not suggested to discard of materials which could be re-energized that could contain all of your contact info.  But thankfully this man, like many others, isn't interested in any kind of malicious activity.

Stay tuned!  Every year, we're going to find more and more great discarded items, and offer suggestions as to how to properly dispose of things so that waste does not occur.  Watch the video and hopefully you find it both entertaining and educational, as everything on this site is supposed to fit into both cateogories.
