The Devils Gear Re-Opens in New Location

Four former heads of New Haven Traffic and Parking (and the current one) were in attendance as Devils Gear Bike Shop officially celebrates relocating from 151 Orange St. to 137 Orange Street with a ribbon cutting this afternoon.

This will be the third location of The Devils Gear, which originally opened on Chapel Street near the corner of Hamilton. It moved several years ago into the bottom level of 360 State, at the end of the courtyard at Pitkin Plaza.

Matthew Feiner, dressed up in his "broken cyclist" halloween costume (the cast is actually the result of a serious crash he incurred recently and is recovering from), gave his thanks to the city, to all attendees of the ribbon cutting, as well as to particularly his staff.

The new location is very nearby to their old location, next to Pitkin Plaza, next to Tikkaway.

Accent your Apartment

101 Art Threads Grand Opening and Reworx Pop-Up from InfoNewHaven on Vimeo.

101 Art Threads is a new gallery concept from business owner Brian Monahan. He's made it possible for artists to pay a membership fee into a system designed to help them succeed. That investment goes towards a web page about your art in the 101Threads.Com website, as well as a space on an actual wall in downtown New Haven, and the opportunity to provide an opening reception to the public. This is pretty helpful if you're an artist.

This month, in addition to cutting its opening ribbon, 101Threads is also hosting a Pop-Up Shop for the furniture collective Reworx (see video). Reworx is comprised of a collective of Artisans, all with unique skill sets working separately towards common goals. Their furniture is highlighted in this video.

Whether it's an art piece or a piece of furniture, you could be accenting your apartment with something amazing and special. The opportunity is yours! Hours on the door indicate that the space at 118 Court Street is ready for you at 11am on most days. Check back or read @NhvOrg Twitter for more specifics about the hours.

Mayor Harp has been handy with the scissors lately. Her seamstress background was also recently tested at the former Horowitz Bros. (756 Chapel St.) which is now home to Happiness Lab, a coffee shop which also received a grand opening a couple of weeks ago.
